Ed Pavlic is Distinguished Research Professor of English, African American Studies, and Creative Writing at the University of Georgia. He has served twice as Director of the Creative Writing PhD Program in English (2006-2011, 2015-2017) and is affiliated faculty in Creative Writing. His academic career spans decades of significant contributions to African American literature, poetry, and critical studies.
Pavlic's research interests focus on African American literary culture, with particular emphasis on James Baldwin studies, Black music history, and contemporary poetry. His work explores the intersections of race, identity, music, and literature, examining how these elements shape American cultural experience.
