Ebru Sarikaya

Ebru Sarikaya serves as a Research Associate at the Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (ifm) within the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Mannheim since 2020 and is a doctoral candidate there since 2023. She concurrently holds positions as an external lecturer for Advanced Strategic Financial Management at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences and as a research assistant at the NIERS Institute, Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences since 2024.

Her academic foundation includes a Bachelor's and Master's in Business Administration from the University of Cologne and University of Wuppertal, specializing in Finance & Business Psychology (Bachelor) and Entrepreneurship & Technology and Innovation Management (Master). Industry experience spans roles at Commerzbank AG from student trainee to Manager of Corporate Banking, including a London assignment in trade finance.

Research priorities center on SME dynamics, entrepreneurial finance, and socioeconomic inclusion, with active investigation into gender and migrant discrimination in German finance through her project "Discrimination of female and migrant entrepreneurs in the finance sector - experimental evidence from Germany". Her work emphasizes practical application of theoretical frameworks in business contexts.

As a core member of ifm Mannheim's Labor Market Team, she contributes to empirical analyses of small and medium-sized enterprises, bridging academic research with real-world banking sector insights.
