Ebru Karahan is an Associate Professor at Özyeğin University, specializing in Architecture and Building Sciences. Her research focuses on housing sector dynamics, energy efficiency in vernacular and contemporary housing, occupant behavior, and sustainable urban development. She holds a PhD from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) with a dissertation analyzing factors influencing housing demand and career. Dr. Karahan has extensive experience in construction management and has contributed to national/international conferences and the European Network for Housing Research (ENHR).
Education: B.Sc. and M.Arch. in Architecture (ITU, 1998), M.Sc. in Project & Construction Management (ITU, 2001), PhD in Building Sciences (ITU, 2007).
Key research areas include housing demand modeling, traditional architecture sustainability, post-occupancy evaluation, and workplace design in post-pandemic contexts. She leads the ENHR's 'Housing Energy Efficiency & Environmental Sustainability' working group and has published widely on energy-saving behaviors, rural gentrification, and sustainable design frameworks.
