Earlene Camarillo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics, Policy, and Administration at Western Oregon University, where she has served since 2017. She also holds leadership roles as Social Science Division Chair, Pre-Law Advisor, and co-director of the Empowered Communities Project. Her teaching spans public administration, health care policy, and American politics.

Her research focuses on leveraging political systems to reduce health inequities, examining local health departments' roles in policy, media framing of Native American communities during the pandemic, and wellness program implementation in public sectors. Recent work explores politicization of public health workers and federal law intersections with media narratives.
Dr. Camarillo has received multiple awards, including WOU’s Faculty Development Awards for research and travel, NAU’s Scholarly and Creative Activity Award, and research grants for her projects on tribal health policies and pandemic responses.
