Eva María Bravo García is a University Professor at the University of Seville, affiliated with the Department of Spanish Language, Linguistics and Literary Theory within the Faculty of Philology. She leads research in Hispanic Linguistics, focusing on historical linguistics, digital humanities, and the sociolinguistic evolution of Spanish in the Americas. Her work examines language contact between Spanish and indigenous languages like Nahuatl, as well as cultural transfers between colonial Mexico and Andalusia.
Her research projects include the 'Investigación en Humanidades Digitales y Español de América' group and studies on Cuban independence documents and colonial texts. She has directed multiple doctoral theses on topics ranging from colonial literature to language contact in Mexico and Cuba. Her publications span over 40 years, with recent focus on digital corpus analysis of 19th-century Cuban texts and the sociolinguistic memory of independence movements.
Bravo García is also active in pedagogical innovation, emphasizing cultural competence in language teaching and adapting digital tools for foreign language learning. She has coordinated international conferences on historical linguistics and Hispanic-American studies, contributing to interdisciplinary approaches in humanities research.
