Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erkan Baysal is an Associate Professor at the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Bingöl University. He holds advanced proficiency in Arabic and intermediate knowledge of Persian and English. His academic journey includes a theology undergraduate degree from Sakarya University (2011), a master's in social sciences from Bingöl University (2015), and a PhD from Ankara University (2022), focusing on Siraceddin Urmevi's theological critiques.
Research interests center on Kalam studies, prophethood theories, and medieval Islamic thought. His work explores figures like Muhammed Abid al-Jabiri, Mevlâna Hâlid, and the theological debates surrounding divine attributes and prophetic miracles. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and collaborated on edited volumes analyzing classical theological texts.
Prior to academia, Baysal served as an imam-hatip with the Presidency of Religious Affairs (2007-2011). His publications include co-authored books on Ash'arite tradition and medieval Islamic philosophical debates, reflecting his expertise in integrating classical texts with contemporary theological discourse.
