Yücel's research critically examines gender representation in contemporary Turkish fiction, criminal psychology in detective novels, and mythological elements in literary narratives. His work consistently bridges literary theory with psychological frameworks, particularly through analyses of authors like Ahmet Ümit and Buket Uzuner, revealing intersections between cultural identity and narrative construction in Turkish society.
His 2017-2022 publications demonstrate a methodological evolution toward interdisciplinary analysis, combining literary criticism with personality psychology models. This trajectory highlights growing scholarly interest in the cognitive dimensions of character development within Turkish detective fiction, while his conference presentations increasingly incorporate environmental and mythological perspectives into literary studies.
