Emrah Berkant Patoglu is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education, Gaziantep University, specializing in the Department of Educational Sciences. His research focuses on the historical, social, and philosophical foundations of education, with particular emphasis on Ottoman educational policies and their legacy in modern Turkey.
- PhD in History (2016-2018) from Gaziantep University Institute of Social Sciences
- Master’s in History (2012-2014) from Gaziantep University Institute of Social Sciences
- Bachelor’s in History (2008-2012) from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Arts and Sciences
His research interests include educational reform, Balkan migration, and the evolution of mathematics education in Turkey. Recent publications analyze Ottoman junior high schools, educational policies during the Tanzimat era, and the impact of historical events on education systems. He has also investigated teacher burnout and its effects on refugee student integration.
Patoglu advises on educational philosophy and has supervised PhD theses on topics like teacher burnout in primary education. He actively participates in international conferences, presenting analyses of Ottoman educational bureaucracy, secondary school grading systems, and military school curricula. His work is supported by national research grants, including studies on World War I and Republican-era martyrs from Gaziantep.
