Elena Candida Gonzalo Martin is a Senior Researcher at CIC energiGUNE, specializing in Electrochemical Energy Storage. She earned her PhD in 2011 from Complutense University (Madrid, Spain) for research on lithium-ion battery cathode materials under Professors Flaviano García-Alvarado and Alois Kuhn (Universidad San Pablo CEU). Her academic career includes postdoctoral work at Complutense University, assistant lecturing at Universidad San Pablo CEU, and a research stay at the University of Oxford (2016).
- Research Focus: Development of Li- and Na-ion battery cathodes, materials synthesis, structural/electrochemical characterization, and interphase studies.
- Awards: Best PhD Thesis (2011-2012), Complutense University, Chemistry Faculty.
- Projects: Key member in regional, national, and European competitive research initiatives.
- Collaborations: Worked with international groups including Peter Bruce (Oxford), S. Islam (Bath), and H.-J. Meyer (Tubingen).
- Publications: Over 40 peer-reviewed papers and two patents.
Scientific Contributions span layered oxide cathodes, metal migration dynamics, and ionic liquid electrolytes. Her work addresses hysteresis reduction, stoichiometry optimization, and electrode-electrolyte interfacial stability for next-generation batteries.
