Assoc. Prof. EKREM DARENDELİOĞLU is affiliated with Bingöl University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. He holds a BSc in Biology (Gazi University, 2009), an MSc in Molecular Genetics (University of Leicester, 2013), and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics (Bingöl University, 2017). His research focuses on apoptosis mechanisms in cancer cells, neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Parkinson's), and the biological activities of natural compounds like propolis and plant extracts. He has contributed to projects investigating the effects of Lactobacillus-derived short-chain fatty acids, melatonin, and Eremurus spectabilis extracts on cancer and endothelial cells.
- Education:
- BSc Biology, Gazi University (2009)
- MSc Molecular Genetics, University of Leicester (2013)
- PhD Molecular Biology and Genetics, Bingöl University (2017)
- Research Projects:
- Investigated apoptotic effects of Lactobacillus reuteri-derived short-chain fatty acids on HT-29 colon cancer cells.
- Examined melatonin and alpha-tocopherol's role in hyperhomocysteinemia-stressed endothelial cells.
- Assessed propolis's antioxidant effects on brain microvascular cells and breast cancer cells.
- Explored Eremurus spectabilis extracts' anticancer and antimicrobial properties.
