EJ Brown

EJ Brown is a Lecturer in the English Department at The University of Texas at Arlington. Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, she holds a BA in English Education from Kyung Hee University (1991) and an MA in TESOL from Stony Brook University (1998). With over two decades of teaching experience, she has worked at Missouri State University's ELI and served as a senior instructor at UTA for 17 years. Her expertise lies in second language acquisition and TESOL methodology, reflected in her 13 published books, which focus on ESL challenges, reading strategies, and language fluency. She received the Larry Huff Award from UTA's English department in 2023.

EJ teaches ENGL 1301 (Rhetoric and Composition I) and developmental English courses. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes practical strategies for non-native speakers, drawing from her own experiences as an ESL learner. She has taught numerous sections across multiple semesters, demonstrating her commitment to student success. Her published works are widely used in Korea, Taiwan, and China, highlighting her international impact.

Outside academia, EJ is an avid golfer and a pet enthusiast. She balances her academic and personal life with a focus on family, having married and raised two children during her career.
