E.E. Hussey serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing (Fiction) at Sewanee: The University of the South. Previously, she held a position as Assistant Professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Born in the Philippines and raised in Japan and Italy, her international background informs her writing and teaching perspective.
Hussey's research and creative interests span multiple domains:

Her work has been recognized with notable fellowships and residencies from prestigious institutions including the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers' Conference, Tin House, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Virginia G. Piper Center. Her writing has appeared in PANK, The Kenyon Review, and was recognized as Notable in Best American Essays.
Hussey's academic journey includes:
- B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin
- M.A. in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University
- M.F.A. from the University of Alabama
Before entering academia, she worked as a research specialist in medical research and as a science writer and editor, bringing a unique interdisciplinary perspective to her creative work.
Her forthcoming novel 'Hafa Adai' will be published by Curbstone Books in early 2027. She is also developing multiple works-in-progress including a short story collection, a hybrid novel set in 1900s New Zealand, a horror novel set in a Carolina swamp, and a novel about fertility research.
