E. Scott Halstead

E. Scott Halstead, PhD, MD is an Associate Professor at Penn State University, holding dual appointments in the Department of Pediatrics (Division of Critical Care Medicine) and the Department of Molecular and Precision Medicine. He is affiliated with the Penn State Cancer Institute (Next-Generation Therapies) and the Pediatric Cardiovascular Research Center.

His research focuses on pediatric critical care, immune profiling in sepsis and critical illness, and surfactant protein A (SP-A) in viral infections. Recent work includes characterizing inflammatory markers in pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (PARDS), predicting organ dysfunction in septic patients, and investigating SP-R210 isoforms in influenza A virus recognition by macrophages.
