Robinson's research focuses on labor movements, neoliberal globalization, and social justice in North America. His work examines NAFTA's impact on workers, unionization of contingent faculty, anti-sweatshop activism, and market-based approaches to labor rights. He also investigates labor federations' role in union renewal and pedagogical impacts of community service learning.
His recent publications analyze unionization trends among unorganized workers, comparative labor dynamics in North America, and ethical consumption patterns. While not explicitly listing awards, his activism includes co-founding the Lecturer Employees' Organization (LEO) and co-building the Washtenaw County Workers' Center (WCWC).
Robinson’s courses span labor sociology, social science theory, and field studies in Mexico. He advocates for academic freedom through nontenure-track faculty unionization and low-wage worker empowerment.
