Professor E. Dan Dahlberg is affiliated with the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota. He directs the Magnetic Microscopy Center (MMC) and contributes to the Physics Force outreach group. His research focuses on magnetism, spin transport in magnetic multilayers, and ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic exchange coupling.
- Active research on spin glass dynamics and magnetic force microscopy
- Projects include noise studies in mesoscopic systems and green science initiatives
His work intersects magnetism, nanoscale physics, and materials science, with applications in magnetic logic devices and micromagnetics. Recent publications highlight advancements in spin glass magnetometry, free-energy landscapes in thin films, and thermal activation phenomena in permalloy systems. Current projects funded by the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Energy, and DOD Navy focus on mesoscopic systems and magnetic noise analysis.
Collaborations span institutions like the University of Texas at Austin and involve interdisciplinary teams. The MMC applies magnetic force microscopy to problems in domain structure micromagnetics and magnetic logic devices.
