Dörte Weltzien

Prof. Dörte Weltzien holds the Professorship for Childhood Education at the Evangelical University of Freiburg. As Head of the Master's program in Childhood Education and Care, she leads academic and practical training in early childhood pedagogy. She co-directs the ZfKJ Research Institute (Center for Child and Youth Research), a hub for interdisciplinary studies on child development and educational practices. Her work focuses on optimizing childcare quality through attachment-related pedagogical interactions and promoting inclusive educational environments.

Her research projects include the QuebIn initiative, validating training concepts for pedagogical professionals in childcare facilities. She actively contributes to the Institute for Applied Research (IAF), addressing societal challenges like equitable energy transition discourse and conflict management in educational contexts.

Prof. Weltzien serves in the BW-CAR Doctoral Center, supporting postgraduate research in applied sciences. Her institutional roles include membership in the university's structural development and quality management committees, reflecting her commitment to institutional advancement in education and social work.
