Dr. Dylan Tutt serves as a Lecturer in Workforce Studies in Construction at the University of Reading, where he also holds key administrative roles as School Director of Academic Tutoring (SDAT) and Academic Disability Representative. Based in Office 124 of the Chancellor's Building, his research specializes in ethnographic and video-based studies of social interaction within complex organizational environments including construction sites globally, hospitals, and domestic settings.
Academic background includes a PhD in Sociology from Lancaster University (2005), an MA with distinction in Visual Culture (2001), and a BA (Hons) in American Studies (2000). His research interests focus on migrant workers in construction, health and safety communication, hypermasculinity in construction culture, and technology-mediated work practices, with broader engagements in cultural sociology and visual culture theory.
Trends across his 15 most recent publications (2023-2011) demonstrate sustained ethnographic investigation of construction industry dynamics, particularly migrant labor integration and safety communication.
