Dylan Morrissey

Professor Dylan Morrissey is a Consultant Physiotherapist and Professor of Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. He leads the academic program in Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM), overseeing an interdisciplinary team of 14 professionals. His research focuses on the link between movement and pathology, with expertise in tendinopathy, clinical reasoning, and digital innovation in healthcare. He has secured over £12 million in research funding and authored ~140 peer-reviewed articles. Additionally, he chairs research ethics at QMUL and contributes to Paralympic sports clinical care and specialist rehabilitation centers for dance and tendon injuries.

Research interests include tendinopathy mechanisms, AI-driven clinical decision support, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. His work emphasizes translating research into clinical practice through digital tools and education. He supervises numerous doctoral students and leads global MSc and BSc programs in SEM. Collaborations span institutions like RGU and industry partners such as Huma and Vald.

Key publications explore prognostic factors in tendinopathy, digital triage systems, and adherence to rehabilitation. His grants and projects address musculoskeletal pathway efficiency, AI integration, and outcome prediction in conditions like plantar heel pain and rotator cuff disorders.
