Dr. Viana Vuvan is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at The University of Queensland, Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences, and an Affiliate of the Centre for Innovation in Pain and Health Research (CIPHeR). She is based in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and is an active member of both the Sports Injury Rehabilitation and Prevention for Health (SIRPH) research unit and the Neck and Head Research Unit (NAHRU) at the University of Queensland.
Dr. Vuvan holds a Bachelor (Honours), Masters (Coursework) of Physiotherapy Studies, and a Doctor of Philosophy, all from The University of Queensland. As a titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, she has a strong clinical background in managing musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries, with a special interest in upper limb musculoskeletal disorders.
Her research focuses on improving the management of persistent musculoskeletal pain conditions, particularly tendinopathies, and understanding the mechanisms underlying their chronicity. Her work spans lateral elbow tendinopathy, Achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy, plantar fasciopathy, and whiplash associated disorders. Dr. Vuvan has developed expertise in the role of isometric exercise in tendinopathy management and has contributed significantly to the development of core outcome sets for tendinopathy research.
Dr. Vuvan's recent publications demonstrate her active engagement in both clinical research and implementation science, with a growing focus on osteoarthritis management, healthcare implementation, and the application of technology in clinical practice. Her work often employs mixed methods approaches, combining quantitative and qualitative research to address complex questions in musculoskeletal health.

Dr. Vuvan is available for supervision and currently serves as an Associate Advisor for two PhD students working on projects related to return-to-sport criteria for tendinopathies and assessment batteries for unarmed combat sport athletes.
