Dr. Dylan Bird is a Lecturer in Journalism at RMIT University's School of Media & Communication. His research focuses on podcasting's role in democracy, civic engagement, and journalism pedagogy. He has produced practice-based projects like The Masterclass podcast, winning two Australian Podcast Awards (2024) and the JERAA Teaching Award. He contributes to Radio Journal: International Studies in Broadcast & Audio Media and hosts Future Perfect on 3RRR radio.
Research interests include podcast journalism formats, collaborative production, and productive listening practices. His work explores how podcasts enhance political participation and social-political wellbeing. Recent publications analyze podcasting's impact during the pandemic and democratic engagement through audio media.
