Dustyn Richardson is a Canadian freelance woodwind player and Clarinet/Woodwinds Lecturer specializing in flutes, clarinets, saxophone, and oboe. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Secondary Music Education from the University of Calgary and a Master of Music in Multiple Woodwind Performance from New Jersey City University, where he studied with prominent NYC musicians. He has extensive freelance experience in Broadway, symphony orchestras, and chamber ensembles, including subbing on over twenty Broadway shows and chair roles in 'Prince of Broadway' and Disney’s Frozen. He was a lead reed substitute for the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular and performed with the New York City Ballet Orchestra.
His research interests focus on woodwind performance techniques across classical, commercial, and jazz genres, informed by his studies with experts like Bob Malach (saxophone) and Dr. Ed Joffe (multiple woodwinds). His career bridges academic instruction and professional performance, emphasizing practical application of music pedagogy.
Recent accolades include his Radio City audition win and live TV performances for NBC’s 'Annie Live!'. He currently resides in Calgary, contributing to the local music scene through teaching and performance.
