Professor Duncan M Ross is a leading academic in Economic and Social History at the University of Glasgow, serving as Dean of Learning and Teaching and Deputy Head of the Social Sciences College Senior Management. His research focuses on Scottish economic history, particularly the 20th century, multinationals' impact, banking systems, and savings institutions. He has authored/co-authored over 16 publications, including edited volumes and influential articles in Financial History Review and Business History. Ross has advised numerous PhD students on topics ranging from industrial relations to renewable energy policy opposition. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary policy implications, notably in education governance and financial sector evolution.
Research Interests: Scottish economic history (20th century), multinational FDI in Scotland, banking/finance in Britain, savings banks since 1835, and contested energy developments.
