Duane McLemore is an Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University, where he contributes to both teaching and research. His professional background includes being an architect (CA 38095) and co-founder of X Over Zero, an architecture and design firm known for its 3D-printed jewelry. His academic roles extend to affiliations with the Fred Carl, Jr. Small Town Center and the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio.
McLemore holds a Master of Architecture from University College London (2010). His research focuses on computational tools for architectural design and fabrication, particularly exploring geometry, symmetry, and advanced fabrication techniques. He investigates the intersection of traditional craft with digital methods, emphasizing sustainability and social equity in built environments.
His recent work includes studies on housing insecurity in Mississippi using virtual reality documentation and the application of space group symmetries in design. He has presented at international conferences such as ACADIA and CAADRIA, delivering talks on topics ranging from algorithmic community construction to symmetry analysis in architectural forms.
McLemore’s publications and presentations reflect a commitment to bridging theoretical mathematics with practical architectural challenges, often utilizing computational tools like Grasshopper to explore novel structural forms and sustainable material applications.
