Dris Soulaimani is Associate Professor of Linguistics and Asian/Middle Eastern Languages at San Diego State University, where he serves as Arabic Language Program Director. He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from UCLA and a Master's in Linguistics from Wayne State University.
His research focuses on discourse analysis, language ideologies, and language pedagogy with specialization in sociolinguistic characteristics of Arabic and Amazigh/Berber languages. He investigates language as a multimodal complex encompassing both structural features and social-semiotic resources.
