Dries Vergouwen is a researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) within the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy. His work focuses on interdisciplinary archaeological studies combining environmental and geochemical analyses. He leads the RETS Project (Revealing the Senne), investigating the Holocene evolution and urban burial of the Senne River in Brussels. This project involves 3D modeling, geophysical surveys, and historical GIS mapping.
Education includes a Master's thesis on Roman harbor infrastructure in Cyprus (2022) and a PhD in Archaeology emphasizing environmental changes. He has published in Archaeologia Mediaevalis and presented at multiple conferences, including interdisciplinary posters on river evolution and urban archaeology.
