Dragan Borota is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Forest Management Planning, Faculty of Forestry, University of Belgrade. He holds a PhD in Forestry (defended 2019) and has been involved in national and international forest inventory projects since 2003. His roles include teaching Dendrometry, Forest Inventory, and GIS applications in academic programs accredited in 2021 and 2013. He has worked on the National Forest Inventory of Serbia and Montenegro, contributing to FAO-supported methodologies and harmonization efforts across Europe.
Education: B.Sc. (2003, Belgrade), M.Sc. (2011), Ph.D. (2019). Professional training includes remote sensing at Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg (2011) and invited lectures at Mendeleev University (2019). His research focuses on integrating aerial photogrammetry, remote sensing, and GIS for forest inventory improvement.
Key contributions include over 30 publications, with emphasis on European forest biomass mapping (2024), harmonization of inventory methods (2022), and Serbian national inventory analyses (2015–2020). He is a member of the Association of Forestry Engineers and Technicians of Serbia and speaks English fluently.
Teaching engagement spans basic and advanced courses in forest resource management, including programs taught in English. His work bridges academic research with practical forestry applications, particularly in sustainable management practices and technology adoption.
