Douglas Wrenn is an Associate Professor at Pennsylvania State University, affiliated with the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology and Education. His research focuses on environmental economics, urban and land use economics, applied economics, nonmarket valuation, and policy analysis. He has contributed to understanding water sustainability, climate risk adaptation, and the economic impacts of land use policies.
His work often explores the interplay between policy interventions and socioeconomic outcomes, such as the effects of water conservation programs on rural farms, disaster risk mitigation strategies, and the role of taxes in influencing consumer behavior and housing markets. Notable contributions include a $17M grant to study climate risk and adaptation strategies, as well as analyses of pandemic-driven changes in food diversity and diet quality.
Recent publications highlight his engagement with timely issues such as flood hazard remapping, FEMA’s community rating systems, and the spatial dimensions of shale gas development. His research integrates econometric techniques to address endogeneity and spatial heterogeneity, providing insights into land use dynamics and environmental policy effectiveness.
