Douglas McPhee

Douglas McPhee serves as Assistant Professor and Clinical Director of the Marriage and Family Therapy Programs at Mount Mercy University, joining in 2021 after a family medicine education fellowship at St. Mary’s Family Medicine Residency. He directs clinical training while teaching graduate courses including Models of MFT, Advanced Models, Therapeutic Techniques with Parents/Children, Spirituality, and Couple Life Cycle.

His educational credentials comprise:

Research centers on improving healthcare for marginalized populations through systemic approaches to chronic illness (hemophilia, migraines), depression, and spirituality integration. He employs phenomenological methods to examine lived experiences of couples/families facing health challenges, emphasizing biopsychosocial-spiritual resources and mindfulness applications in therapeutic contexts.
