Dr. Douglas M. Dickens is a Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Gardner-Webb University's School of Divinity, where he has served since 2000. He holds the W. Randall Lolley Chair of Pastoral Studies and developed the Pastoral Care and Counseling concentration for the Doctor of Ministry program. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, Texas) and taught courses in Russia. He is a board-certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains and a Fellow of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. His work focuses on clinical pastoral education, medical psychology, and ministry in crisis settings.

His expertise spans conflict ministry, family systems theory, and member care for missionaries.

Service & Affiliations: He serves on the Mid-Atlantic Region Accreditation Committee of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education and maintains a limited pastoral counseling practice.
