Douglas M. Bregman is a Lecturer in Law and Adjunct Faculty at Georgetown University Law Center (since 1992), Columbia Law School (since 2011), and Howard University Law School (2023). He is a founding partner of Bregman, Berbert, Schwartz & Gilday, L.L.C., with over 35 years of practice in transactional real estate, business representation, and civil litigation. His roles include Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Client Protection Fund and Board member of Maryland Legal Aid and the Homeless Persons Representation Project.
Education: J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center (1974), B.A. with Honors from Colgate University (1971).
Research interests focus on real estate law, legal negotiation, and dispute resolution. His publications include seminal works on Maryland landlord-tenant law and real estate negotiation strategies.
Awarded the Charles Fahy Distinguished Adjunct Professor of the Year (2008), Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (2004), and the Distinguished Maryland Real Property Practitioner Award (2017).
Teaches courses on drafting and negotiating commercial real estate documents at multiple law schools. No formal advisees listed, but actively mentors through professional engagements.
