Douglas Granger is the Chancellor’s Professor of Psychological Science, Pediatrics, and Public Health at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He directs the Institute for Interdisciplinary Salivary Bioscience Research (IISBR), which focuses on advancing salivary biomarker research. Granger holds a Ph.D. from UCI and specializes in biobehavioral research, particularly in stress physiology, child development, and public health. His work integrates interdisciplinary approaches to study biomarkers of stress, inflammation, and environmental exposures.
His research spans diverse populations, including children, veterans, and marginalized communities, addressing issues such as PTSD, racism-related stress, and global health disparities. Granger’s contributions include pioneering studies on salivary cortisol, alpha-amylase, and metabolomics. He collaborates with SeroNet, leading initiatives on SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing and multiplex salivary measurements.
Granger’s lab, IISBR, provides cutting-edge salivary bioscience services, supporting studies on stress, nutrition, and environmental interventions. His work emphasizes translating scientific findings into practical applications for healthcare and policy, particularly in reducing health inequities. Key themes in his publications include neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD), maternal and child health, and the biopsychosocial impacts of adversity.
