Dr. Douglas Craig is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Winnipeg, affiliated with the Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex. He holds a B.Sc. from Mount Allison University (1988), a Ph.D. from Dalhousie University (1993), and completed postdoctoral work at the Universities of Manitoba and Alberta.
His research focuses on single molecule enzymology, particularly studying enzyme heterogeneity and developing ultrasensitive analytical methods using capillary electrophoresis and laser-induced fluorescence. Notable techniques include single enzyme molecule assays and Peltier array temperature control systems for high-resolution studies.
Dr. Craig has secured over 25 NSERC grants totaling over $1M since 2009, including Discovery Grants and equipment funding. He has published extensively in journals like BioMetals, Electrophoresis, and Analytical Chemistry, with over 100 conference presentations since 1990.
He has advised numerous undergraduate and graduate students, contributing to their professional development in academia and industry. His lab facilities include advanced capillary electrophoresis systems, molecular biology equipment, and fluorescence detection setups.
