Douglas Adu is an active Associate Professor in Management Accounting at Nottingham University Business School, University of Nottingham, based in B23 Si Yuan Building at Jubilee Campus. Previously, he held academic roles as Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Teesside University and Academic Tutor at University of Limerick, alongside part-time positions at University of Huddersfield, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and Mampong Technical College of Education. His industry background includes management roles at uniBank (Ghana) Limited.
His educational credentials feature dual PhDs (Accounting from University of Limerick and Finance from University of Huddersfield), MSc Finance (with distinction) from University of Southampton, MBA and MSc Biotechnology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and BSc Biochemistry. He investigates how board diversity, ownership structures, and innovation culture mediate sustainability practices – particularly focusing on emerging economies and African corporate contexts.
His recent publications (2023-2025) reveal three dominant trends: (1) Carbon performance's relationship with market valuation and executive pay structures; (2) Corporate governance mechanisms as moderators for sustainability initiatives in banking; (3) Blockchain's role in enhancing supply chain resilience.
