Douglas A. Parry

Douglas A. Parry serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Science at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he is an active member of the Media Psychology Group. His academic role involves conducting research on digital media behaviors among adolescents and young adults and their psychological implications, while contributing to departmental teaching and mentorship initiatives.

Parry's research centers on three core areas: (1) digital media consumption patterns among youth; (2) cognitive, mental health, and well-being outcomes of media use; and (3) digital literacy competencies for thriving in online environments. He employs mixed-methods approaches integrating quantitative, qualitative, and computational techniques while adhering to open science principles for transparency and reproducibility.
