Dorte Marie Søndergaard serves as Professor in Educational Psychology at Aarhus University's Danish School of Education (DPU), with research spanning bullying dynamics, digital youth culture, and gender discourse in educational settings. Her work integrates feminist methodology with qualitative approaches to examine social exclusion mechanisms.
Her research portfolio emphasizes digital-era bullying phenomena, particularly how video games and online platforms shape youth interactions, gender policing through humor, and sexualized digital behaviors in schools. She investigates discursive constructions of social boundaries using apparatus theory and narrative methods, with strong focus on Danish educational contexts and European collaborations.
Recent publications (2024-2025) reveal intensifying focus on cyberbullying interventions, gender-identity conflicts in digital spaces, and methodological innovations in qualitative research. Her work shows increasing internationalization through Horizon Europe projects while maintaining Denmark-specific applicability.
