Dr. Dorothy Kessler is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Occupational Therapy Program at Queen's University's School of Rehabilitation Therapy, part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Ottawa, and completed postdoctoral fellowships at Bruyère Research Institute and Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. Her research focuses on interventions to improve community reintegration for individuals with chronic conditions like stroke, Parkinson’s, and multiple sclerosis, emphasizing patient-centered approaches and empowerment. She leads the iCarePD initiative and the Causeway Stroke Rehabilitation Research Program, funded by the Preston family. Key roles include Scientist in Rehabilitation at Providence Care (2024–2026), and she has been awarded the CIHR Vanier Canada Scholarship.

Supervision: Leads graduate supervision in AGHE PhD, RHL DSc, and RHBS MSc/PhD programs. Actively recruits trainees for projects in chronic disease and rehabilitation innovation.
