Dorothy Chisare

Dorothy Chisare is a Research Officer at LSE Health, London School of Economics and Political Science, actively contributing to the African Health Observatory–Platform on Health Systems and Policies (AHOP) hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Africa. Her role involves leveraging national and regional collaborations across Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Senegal through a technical consortium including LSE and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies.

Her research spans Epidemiology, Implementation Science, and Public Health with concentrated expertise in HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Maternal and Child Health, Health Systems Strengthening, and Quality Improvement. She employs mixed methods research and social and behavioural change communication to address health challenges in African contexts, particularly focusing on evidence-based interventions for infectious diseases and maternal health.

Recent publications demonstrate her commitment to translating research into practice, notably a 2020 mixed methods study evaluating TB preventive therapy implementation in Zimbabwean healthcare facilities, reflecting trends in operational research for health system strengthening in resource-limited settings.

Dr. Chisare participates in AHOP's network of National Centres, which integrates research institutions across Africa to generate policy-relevant evidence on health systems, emphasizing capacity building and knowledge translation for sustainable health improvements.
