Dr. Dorothy Berglund is a Professor of Family Science and Department Chair at the Mississippi University for Women's College of Arts & Sciences, overseeing the Psychology and Family Science departments. She holds a B.A. (honors) in Psychology from New Mexico State University, an M.S. in Family Science and Marriage & Family Therapy, and a Ph.D. in Family Studies with a Statistics minor from the University of New Mexico.

Her research focuses on the impact of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) on couples, family violence, campus sexual assault policies, and the role of student reflection in enhancing learning through internships and problem-based learning. She also examines higher education policies affecting faculty. Dr. Berglund actively promotes the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) credential through national committees, including chairing the CFLE Advisory Board (2021–2022).
As an advisor, she supports Psychology and Family Science students in navigating academic requirements and fostering success. Her work includes mentoring students in sexuality education research for college-aged populations.
Dr. Berglund joined Mississippi University for Women in 2006 and previously served on the Advising Corps, advising new students.
