Dorothea Charlotte Seel serves as Lecturer in Historical Performance Practice & 19th Century Flutes at Mozarteum University's Department of Music Education in Innsbruck. She concurrently holds a position at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz where she earned her doctorate in 2017.
Her research centers on historical sound aesthetics and performance practices from the Baroque to Romantic eras, with specialization in 18th-19th century flutes. She actively bridges scholarly research and artistic practice through instrument studies and period performance.
Her recent creative output shows strong focus on Classical-era chamber music and historical sound reconstruction, exemplified by her 2025 release of Johann Andreas Amon's flute sonatas. Earlier scholarly work culminated in her award-winning 2017 dissertation on 19th-century flute acoustics.
