Dorota Wiktorowicz is a researcher at the University of Warsaw, focusing on fungal interactions with microplastics and environmental pollution. Her work includes studies on bioremediation potential of fungi and physicochemical properties of microplastics in polar regions. She leads the project 'Arctic fungi in breakdown of plastic' (Perły Nauki MNiSW PN/02/0043/2023) and contributed to the 'Physicochemistry of microplastics and anthropogenic pollution in polar regions' initiative.
Her research spans fungal biodiversity in extreme environments, including post-mining sites and the Białowieża Primeval Forest. She conducted an internship at the Fungal Ecology Lab at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark, Feb-Jul 2023). Active in professional societies, she is a member of the Polish Mycological Society and International Mycological Association (IMA).
