Dorota Glowacka is a Professor of Humanities in the Contemporary Studies Program at the University of King's College. She holds cross-appointments at Dalhousie University's graduate faculties in English, Gender and Women’s Studies, European Studies, and Interdisciplinary Studies. Her academic career spans over 28 years, focusing on Holocaust and genocide studies with an emphasis on gender, memory, and translation. She earned her PhD in comparative literature from SUNY Buffalo and an MA from Wrocław University.
Dr. Glowacka’s research integrates continental philosophy, critical race theory, and feminist perspectives. Key interests include the gendered politics of Holocaust representation, Polish-Jewish relations post-1945, and intersections between settler colonialism and Holocaust memory. She has led SSHRC-funded projects such as the international 'Thinking Through the Museum' initiative (2021–2028) and 'Jewish Memory in Today’s Poland' (2006–2009).
Her professional engagements include roles at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, organizing transnational conferences like 'Mass Violence Against Indigenous Peoples' (2022) and co-chairing the Lessons and Legacies conference in Munich (2019). Recent work explores decolonial approaches to Holocaust translation and comparative genocide studies.
