Donna Woulfe is an Associate Professor in Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware's College of Arts & Sciences, and Director of the Interdisciplinary Science Learning Center. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Bucknell University, a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania.
Her research focuses on platelet signaling mechanisms and thrombosis, particularly the roles of Akt kinases, GSK3β, arrestin-2, and novel receptors like PAR4 and P2Y12. Key projects include investigating hyperglycemia/diabetes impacts on platelet function and the role of TMEM16f in microparticle generation.
Current research explores agonist-dependent receptor interactions, P2Y12 mutations in bleeding disorders, and Ca++-dependent platelet microparticle release mechanisms. These studies aim to identify new therapeutic targets for cardiovascular diseases.
