Yan Jin is the Edward and Elizabeth Rosenberg Professor in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Delaware, within the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. Her research focuses on environmental soil physics and toxicology, with expertise in colloidal processes and contaminant transport.
- Education
- Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology/Soil Physics from University of California-Riverside
- M.S. in Soil Chemistry from New Mexico State University
- B.S. in Soil Science from Hebei Agricultural University, China
Her research spans five key areas: (1) fate/transport of colloids (microorganisms, nanoparticles) in porous media; (2) biogeochemical cycling of carbon and nutrients mediated by colloids; (3) coupling physical and biogeochemical processes in soil organic carbon dynamics; (4) rhizosphere interactions; and (5) microbial processes at interfaces with applications to food safety. She leads the Jin Lab, a research group dedicated to Environmental Soil Physics.
She serves as Associate Editor for Soil Systems and Vadose Zone Journal, and held leadership roles including Chair of the Soil Physics and Hydrology Division at the Soil Science Society of America. Professional memberships include American Geophysical Union and International Society for Porous Media (InterPore).
