Donna Claypool is the Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Textiles and Surface Design at the University of Bolton's School of The Arts. With over 25 years of experience as a textile designer, maker, and lecturer, she coordinates undergraduate fashion/textiles programmes, teaches printed textile design (commercial and craft-based), and organizes international student visits to archives, factories, and trade fairs in the UK, Europe, and the USA. She has curated collaborative exhibitions in New York, Paris, and Brussels.
Her research focuses on textile and surface design for fashion and interiors, including commercial production and artisanal craft. She has executed commissions for television set design (e.g., Granada and London Weekend Television) and maintains active industry engagement through exhibitions and sales globally.
Donna holds leadership roles in professional networks:
- Co-Chair of the North-West Craft Network (promoting regional craft ecology)
- Member of the Association of Degree Courses in Fashion and Textiles
