Donna Amado is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Curry College within the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. She joined in 2016 to teach Periop 101 and is a full-time perioperative nurse educator at Boston Medical Center. She has been a CNOR-certified perioperative nurse since 1989 and serves as the President of the AORN Massachusetts Chapter 1.
- Education: Associate’s Degree (1987) from Bristol Community College; BSN (2008) from the University of Phoenix; MS in Nursing with a Healthcare Education certificate (2012) from Regis University.
Her research focuses on:
- Team dynamics and communication in the operating room (OR).
- Nurse resiliency and stress management.
- Perioperative patient safety protocols.
- Infection control related to body jewelry in surgical settings.
Her publications highlight trends in OR safety, including peer-reviewed works on team communication (2009), body jewelry guidelines (2015, revised 2017), and nurse resiliency (2018). These works span subfields like surgical safety, clinical education, and healthcare workforce wellbeing.
