Prof. Donatella Termini is a Full Professor in Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Palermo's Department of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. She holds a PhD from the University of Naples Federico II and co-founded Seeng LTD and Safety Environmental Engineering srl. Her research focuses on experimental and theoretical hydraulics, river dynamics, and ecosystem monitoring.
Research interests span turbulent flow analysis, sediment transport mechanisms, bio-inspired environmental monitoring systems, hydraulic risk assessment, and sustainable watershed management. Her work employs advanced experimental techniques and field measurements to address climate change impacts on aquatic systems.
Recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on river turbulence characterization, freshwater mussel behavior as ecological indicators, bridge vulnerability to hydraulic stressors, and novel measurement techniques. Research frequently integrates laboratory experiments with field validation in Mediterranean river systems.
Teaching responsibilities include graduate-level Hydraulics and Hydraulic Systems courses for Environmental and Building Engineering programs. Supervised student research explores vegetation effects on erosion control, debris flow modeling, and biotic indicators in hydraulic risk assessment.
International collaborations include research stays at Queen's University Canada, LEGI Grenoble, and IGB Berlin, focusing on turbulence modeling and ecosystem monitoring techniques.
