Carmelo Nasello is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Palermo's Polytechnic School. He holds a laurea cum laude in Civil Hydraulic Engineering (1987) and a PhD in Hydraulic Engineering (1992) from the University of Palermo-Naples-Rome consortium. His research focuses on flood, coastal, and environmental hydraulics.
Current research areas include:
- 1D/2D modeling of flood waves in rivers and urban drainage networks
- Full-field hydrodynamic measurements in marine/lagoon environments
- Numerical simulation of coastal/lagoon hydrodynamics
Publications emphasize hydrodynamic measurement techniques, optical river monitoring methods, urban flood prediction, and Mediterranean lagoon circulation. Recent articles demonstrate strong focus on instrumentation innovation and coupled modeling approaches.
No scientific awards are documented in available sources.
Supervised student theses cover hydraulic structures, urban drainage design, water network analysis, and micro-hydropower applications. Research collaborations include Professor Vincenzo Armenio (University of Trieste) and participation in projects like HF radar monitoring (Italia-Malta Program) and hydroelectric resource assessment (POR Sicilia).
