Donald Schleicher is an Artist-in-Residence and Director of Orchestras at the Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University, conducting the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra. Holding a Master of Music (MM) from Northwestern University (1977), his career spans decades of leadership in orchestral programs across prestigious institutions including the University of Illinois (26 years, awarded Daniel J. Perrino Professor Emeritus), Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, Quad City Symphony Orchestra, Pine Mountain Music Festival, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and University of Michigan. He has guest-conducted international ensembles such as the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, Daegu Symphony (South Korea), and Guiyang Symphony (China), and actively engages in conducting masterclasses at major music schools like Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, and Shepherd School of Music. A champion of public school music education, he has led All-State orchestras and youth ensembles across nearly all U.S. states.
