Donald McEligot is a Visiting Professor at the University of Idaho's Nuclear Engineering Division and Professor Emeritus at the University of Arizona. Based at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies in Idaho Falls, he holds a Ph.D. in Thermoscience from Stanford University, an M.S.E. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Washington, and a B.E.M.E. from Yale University.
His research focuses on experimental and computational thermal-fluid physics, including turbulent/transitional shear flows, entropy generation, convective heat transfer, and applications in gas-cooled reactors. Recent work examines laminar-to-turbulent transition phenomena and heat transfer to supercritical-pressure fluids.
Funded research includes projects from the Department of Energy (Nuclear Energy Research Initiative, Supercritical Water Reactor program), Air Force Office of Scientific Research, National Science Foundation, and international collaborations with institutions in Germany, Japan, and Korea.
