Donald M. Hummels is a Professor and the Undergraduate Coordinator in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering within the College of Engineering at the University of Maine. His office is located in Room 211, Barrows Hall.
Hummels' research focuses on:
- Receiver design
- Nonlinear signal processing strategies
- Digital signal processing
- Electric drives and power electronics
- Control systems
Professor Hummels has extensive consulting experience with organizations including MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, and CrossRate Technologies, where he has applied his expertise in signal processing to solve complex engineering problems in communications, radar imaging, and underwater acoustics.
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University
Professor Hummels teaches several key courses in the ECE curriculum including ECE 314 (Signals & Systems), ECE 455 (Electric Drives), and ECE 486 (Digital Signal Processing). He has previously supported course sequences throughout the Electronics and Communications areas of the curriculum.
